We chose the name for the relationship at the centre of the piece: a vessel shaped from Trinidad earth to hold smoke and ash.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eEach Ororo begins with wild clay gathered locally in Trinidad and processed in small batches in Studio Nadi Sangama. The vessel is formed entirely by hand, then pit fired so smoke, heat, ash, and the mineral character of the clay become part of its finished surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eAt its centre, a small hand formed rest holds the incense upright while the surrounding bowl receives the falling ash.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThe form is simple, but never identical. The clay shifts beneath the hand. The fire leaves its own marks.
