The city was already beginning to disappear into the heat when I took this photograph. Towers that normally announce themselves with glass, height, and detail had been reduced to a dark line against an enormous field of orange, while the sun hung above them with a presence that made everything below feel temporary.

Dubai can be overwhelming in scale, yet this view stayed with me because so much of the city had fallen away. The haze softened the architecture until only its outline remained, leaving the atmosphere to carry the image. It felt heavy, dry, almost suspended, the kind of evening when distance becomes difficult to measure and the skyline seems to float somewhere between earth and light.

What remains for me is the colour of that air and the strange stillness it gave to a city usually defined by movement.
